High School Biology (105)

Overview

If you have been assigned to teach High School Biology you will take the Biology 105 content exam. Your High School Biology exam (105) is a computer-based test that you can take at a Testing location near you (aka- you don't need to be in Chicago).  Most corps members assigned to this content area express some nervousness about this exam because it may include content and information in which you have very limited knowledge.  Please know that with adequate prep and by keeping in mind some of the "Study Tips" below, you should be successful.

Logistics

This exam costs $122

This exam is computer-based (you can take it from a testing center anywhere in the US and some international locations)

If you fail, you can retake this exam. However you must wait 30 days before re-testing

Study Tips

  • These exams can feel overwhelming (a lot of new material). However, we see a 98% pass rate (on the first attempt) for folks that dedicate 5 hours of study time between when they register and when they test.

  • Use the ILTS Study Guide (located below). Our 2016 Corps Members said this was the most helpful study resource!

  • Reach out to the Onboarding Team if you need support or have concerns - finding a testing timeline and study plan that works for you is really important. If we need to move things around we can, but reaching out pro-actively ensures we have the space to modify your testing timeline, as needed

Remember: Use your Testing Guide to scaffold this process for you (learn when to register, test and more).
